September

Labor Day weekend is often viewed as the end of summer - but summer does not end until September 22!  One of the key things to keep up with in September is water, water, water!  As the season starts to draw to an end, we often neglect to keep up with the watering.  Trees and perennials are preparing to go dormant for the winter, and need to be watered well.  It is also important to keep up with the weeding, to prevent weeds from going to seed.

Here are some other gardening tasks to do in September:

1.        Prepare and seed new lawns.

2.       Last fertilizing of lawns for the year.

3.       Divide and transplant perennials.

4.       Plant evergreens.

5.  Soak soil around evergreens and transplants.
